Ever wake up and just... lie there? Eyes open, gaze fixed on the ceiling, thoughts gently drifting in as the world slowly stirs?
That ceiling—familiar, silent, constant—holds space for the first breath of your morning, the quiet in-between before your day begins. It watches your return from dreams, catches the pieces of who you are before you reassemble into your daily self. Maybe it’s even where your soul slips quietly back in from wherever it wanders at night.
That’s what Ceiling Sonder is all about.
It’s a creative project and a celebration of that intimate moment of stillness—before alarms, before to-do lists, before words.
Here’s how to take part: Snap a photo of your ceiling from bed—head on the pillow, eyes upward—your morning point of view. Alongside it, share a thought. It can be a sentence, a paragraph, a fragment—whatever greets you when you open your eyes.
This is for a collaborative book I’m putting together. A soft, human patchwork of perspectives from those quiet morning spaces we rarely talk about—but all share in some way.
Send your photo and words to me by email or text. I’d be honored to include your voice in Ceiling Sonder.
